Traffic Alert for July 4th Leavenworth Rd/Howe Ave

On Wednesday, July 4th, 2007, Leavenworth Road, from White Hills Shopping Center, South to Wheeler Street will be posted with No Parking signs on both sides of the road.  This will be done in anticipation of the large crowds expected at the Indian Well State Park.

The Department of Environmental Protection and the managers of the park will be closing admittance to the park when they reach a capacity of 800 vehicles.  They will be contacting the Police Department when they are getting close to that number which often results in a large amount of vehicles being turned around or diverted to other parks within the area.

Radio stations as well as the message boards along I-95 will also be used to alert residents of the state asf well as those from outside the region then the park is closed.

Once again, the Shelton Police Department will be asking for patience from operators because of the lines of traffic anticipated.

Please use some courtesy and patience this July 4th when traveling through the City of Shelton and we will all have a safe and happy 4th.
