******PRESS RELEASE******DATE: June 28, 2007By: Detective Sergeant Kevin Ahern City Employees Arrested on Drug Charges On 6/27/2007 the Shelton Police Department received information of possible illegal drug activity at the Shelton Community Center located at 41 Church Street. An investigation by the Detective Division led to the arrest of two City of Shelton part-time custodial employees; Joseph Ramatowski, Jr., age 22 of 16 Woodbridge Avenue, Apartment 2, Ansonia, CT and Rodney Lanham, age 39 of 32 Sunshine Circle, Bridgeport, CT and a third individual, Craig Haynes, age 47, of 615 Trumbull Circle, Bridgeport, CT. Members of the Detective Division witnessed a drug transaction occur in the parking lot of the Community Center. Captain Michael Madden stated, "Thankfully incidents of criminal activity of city employees are of a rare occurrence in the City of Shelton. However, both the Community Center staff and the Police Department were diligent in investigating and arresting the individuals involved. In order to maintain the integrity of city employees we investigate all allegations of criminal activity." Joseph Ramatowski was charged with Illegal Possession of Cocaine, Illegal Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Ramatowski was released on a PTA with a court date of 7/9/2007 at GA5 in Derby. Rodney Lanham was charged with Illegal Possession of Cocaine, Sale of Cocaine, Illegal Possession within 1500' of a daycare. Also charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with Under Suspension. Lanham was being held in the Shelton Police Lock-up on a $50,000.00 bond. He will be arraigned on 6/29/2007 at GA5 in Derby. Craig Haynes, a passenger in Lanham's vehicle was charged with Illegal Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Criminal Impersonation and Interfering with an Officer. The last two charges were added during the booking process when Haynes gave a fake name during the booking process, at which time he was identified through the AFIS Fingerprinting System. Haynes was being held in the Shelton Police lock-up on a $25,000.00 bond. He will be arraigned on 6/28/2007 at GA5 in Derby.
