******PRESS RELEASE******DATE: 6/6/2007By: Detective Ben Trabka Sisters Arrested for Burglary Shelton Police arrested two sisters for their role in a Huntington burglary which occurred on 3/31/2007. 23 year old Cara Mackey of 7 Timber Lane, Newtown and 27 year old Melissa Mackey, of 22 Matilda Lane, Shelton, were arrested for their role in a night time burglary in which money, guns, jewelry and electronics were stolen from a residence. Police investigated and executed two search warrants at residences in Newtown and Bridgeport. Police were able to recover several of the stolen guns, money, electronics and jewelry related to the burglary. Both Mackeys were arrested on the charges of Burglary 2nd Degree, Larceny 1st Degree and 5 counts of Theft of a Firearm. Cara Mackey was released on a $10,000.00 Bond and Melissa was held on a $50,000.00 bond. Melissa was arraigned in Derby Superior Court today. Police have an additional warrant for a male involved in this theft. The male is currently incarcerated on charges of Criminal Possession of a Firearm based on the guns being found in his possession in Newtown.
