******PRESS RELEASE******DATE: June 5, 2007By: Detective Thomas Federowicz Shelton Man Charged in Arson Case. On June 2nd, 2007, Shelton Police arrested 30 year old Adam Chernowsky of 126 Howe Avenue, for Arson in the Second Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the first Degree. Adam Chernowsky was held on a 100,000 dollar bond and was scheduled to appear in court on June 4th, 2007. On June 2nd, 2007 at approximately 2:30am Shelton Police were dispatched to Howe Avenue in Shelton for report of a car fire. The Shelton Fire Department held already been dispatched. The owner of the vehicle Debra Martin, received a call from her son Jason who stated that he received a call from Adam Chernowsky, Adam stated to Jason that Debra’s car was going to go down. Debra was watching from her front porch when she saw Adam drive by and throw something at her car she heard a pop and her car went up in flames. Adam was then located in Derby where in was arrested. The vehicle 1991 Dodge Spirit color tan was a total loss.
