******PRESS RELEASE******DATE: 3/16/2007By: Detective Ben Trabka Shelton Police Make Heroin Drug Arrests On March 16th, 2007 at approximately 6;00 AM, Shelton Police Detectives, along with the Valley Street Crime Unit, the Statewide Narcotics Task Force and the Ansonia Police Department Canine Unit executed a Search & Seizure Warrant at a residence located at 154 Division Avenue, Shelton. The raid was conducted to search for narcotics. The search was based on investigations into a recent rash of thefts of GPS Units in Shelton and surrounding communities. It was determined through the theft investigation that narcotics use and trafficking was coming from this residence. Police found 13 persons residing in the residence, including 6 small children. Police seized numerous heroin and cocaine related items, including small amounts of heroin and cocaine. The following persons were arrested:
During the course of the search, officers found several children sleeping in the areas where the narcotics were being stored and used. This resulted in the Impairing the Morals of a Minor charges to the parents of the children. The Department of Children and Families was contacted and will investigate as well. The theft is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
