In May 2002, the Shelton Police
Department's S.R.T., along with the New
Canaan, Greenwich and Fairfield S.W.A.T. teams
went through an intense one week training course instructed by three members of
the Los Angeles Police Department S.W.A.T. team.
The teams went through a multi-faceted training regime mixed with Classroom instruction, simulated exercises, live flash-bang and C.S. gas training, and firearms training. Training sessions were at the Shelton Police Department, old Intermediate School, City owned buildings on Blacks Hill Road and the Stratford Police Department outdoor shooting range.
