Shelton Police Department
Service, Professionalism, Dedication to Duty
Chief of Police Shawn Sequeira
There have been requests from the public for the
release of the Body Worn Camera of the officers involved in Mr. Cole’s
arrest on December 29, 2022.  Pursuant to § 29-6d(g)(2)(B)(i) of the
Connecticut General Statutes, public disclosure of the recordings from Body
Worn Camera is not required in domestic violence incidents, if the scene of
an incident involves a victim of domestic abuse, “if disclosure could
reasonably be expected to constitute an unwarranted invasion of personal
privacy in the case of such victim”.  As a result, the Shelton Police
Department has been working with the Milford State’s Attorney’s Office on
this issue.  Videos have been redacted in order to protect the privacy
interests of victims of the incident.
On December 29, 2022 at approximately 9:15PM, The
Shelton Police Department received a call from a person that requested to be
anonymous. The caller stated that the victim is in a domestic situation and
the victim sent a code through text message. The caller stated every time
the cops go there the male makes the victim be quiet. The caller reiterated
that their identity cannot be revealed because the male would come after
their house and do anything to their family. The caller stated that the male
constantly flips out, throws things, and hits the victim. The dispatcher
asked the caller about any weapons and was told that the victim will hide
knives if the male starts flipping out. The caller stated that the code that
was sent by the victim means that the victim needs help.
